Teaching Rooms

The Clocktower Centre has 6 teaching rooms, each accommodating up to 16 students.  In the same complex there is a small Computer Suite and dedicated Art Room.

Smaller groups may prefer a teaching space in the Watersports Club House.  Heron House and Fulmar House have large common rooms, suitable for a variety of purposes whilst each of the Beach Houses has a room suitable for teaching.

Facilities for art and sculpture
The Art Studio in the grounds has two large working areas or exhibition spaces inside.  The south-facing terrace is ideal for stone carving.  The dedicated Art Room in the Clocktower Cente is available, too.

The Estate itself is an inspiring setting for all kinds of creative work: seascapes, the river, marshes and farmland are all on our doorstep whilst the architectural idiosyncracies of the Manor and its buildings feature in the work of many artists who come here.

Facilities for music and performing arts
Large spaces in the Clocktower Centre and Heron and Fulmar Houses are good practice rooms whilst the Great Hall in the Manor, with its own Minstrel's Gallery (once the Organ Loft), provides an intimate setting for performances.  Shakespeare out-of-doors on the south terrace or in the sunken garden have delighted players in the past.

Sport and recreation
On the Estate itself there are playing fields, two tennis courts, a squash court and badminton hall.  

Bawdsey Quay Watersports Centre is on the north bank of the River Deben estuary, opposite Felixstowe Ferry on the Suffolk coast.  With access to the mouth of the river at all states of the tide, we have both river and sea sailing areas which offer safe learning environments for beginners.  More experienced sailors will enjoy the more challenging waters offshore.
